COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WTVR) -- Three people are hospitalized after a traffic stop in Colonial Heights, turned into a police pursuit that ended with a multiple-vehicle crash.

According to Colonial Heights police, officials tried to stop the vehicle around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night for not having its headlights on near the intersection of Boulevard and Arlington. The same vehicle had been reported stolen at 9 p.m. by VCU police. The vehicle belongs to a medical transport company taken from VCU Medical Center.

Police say that a high-speed pursuit took place out of Colonial Heights and then into Chesterfield. The chase led back into Colonial Heights where the fleeing vehicle crashed into a telephone pole.

The vehicle did not stop, instead it continued on until it was part of a three vehicle crash at Boulevard and Temple.

"The crash is being investigated and charges will be pending as a result of the investigation," Colonial Heights Sgt. Robert Ruxer said.

Sgt. Ruxer said some charges may include reckless driving and eluding police.

Three people were injured in the crash, including the suspect.  There were all transported to South Side Regional Medical Center and were last listed in stable condition.
