(WTVR) – You may want to think twice before starting the day with that delicious, but fatty, breakfast sandwich.

Canadian researchers looked at the effects of eating processed cheese and meat on a bun, even for just one day. They found two hours after eating the sandwich, there was already a decrease in blood vessel function.

Dr. Todd Anderson of the University of Calgary said that blood vessels become “unhappy” after just one day of eating processed cheese, eggs and meat on a bun.

Anderson said that a one-day drop isn’t cause for a lot of concern, but if one makes a breakfast sandwich a go-to meal, the fat will build up in the wall of the arteries.

The effect was so swift, the study dubbed the meal “a time bomb in a bun.”

“I won’t say don’t ever have a breakfast sandwich,” Anderson said.
