RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)—A hit and run remains unsolved one year later.

Nancy Shaffer’s presence is still felt through pictures posted around her sister's living room.

Crystal Dinsmore says those pictures remind her of their childhood, but also, their future.  “The things we were supposed to do as we got older,” says Dinsmore.

Dinsmore says that back when she used to think about the two getting older, she would've never imagined her sister dying in a car crash.

Police say in August of 2011, Shaffer was driving on Interstate 95 with her husband and young son, when another car veered into Shaffer’s lane, causing her to lose control before crashing into a jersey wall.

Shaffer, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. Her husband and son were injured. Now, more than a year later, police are still looking for the person who caused that crash.

“Just come forward if it was just an accident, just come forward,” pleads Dinsmore.

Dinsmore tells us, she doesn't understand how anyone could keep driving after such a horrific scene and goes on to say, “I hope he sleeps well at night, or she.”

“You've gotten an extra year that you took of somebody's life that was precious.”

She also doesn't understand why police haven't caught the suspect, telling CBS 6 that a family friend who saw the driver, provided investigators with a seemingly credible description of the car and a license plate number.

Dinsmore says police haven't told her if it was a good lead or not.

Police say they are still investigating.
