RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Chesterfield County Schools spokesman Shawn Smith appeared on CBS 6 This Morning to discuss the county’s decision to close schools Monday.

“Our superintendent, our transportation director, they’re on the phone with our local school divisions, understanding what they’re seeing and what they’re hearing,” Smith said during a live television interview. “When we make a decision for Chesterfield County [schools], we’ve got to understand that we can impact the larger region with our employees coming and going.”

He addressed when the school system planned to make a call for Tuesday.

"We're going to make that decision today," Smith said. "We'll want to see what changes. The predictions don't look favorable. But we're going to look really closely to see what decision we'll make."
