2 arrested for shooting at Dinwiddie convenience store

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the Food Barn convenience store on the 14000 block of Boydton Plank Road Friday night at 9:13 p.m.

Officers say they found a 36-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds when they arrived on scene.  They also found that the suspect took the victim’s vehicle.

The victim was taken to Southside Regional Medical Center and then transferred to VCU Medical Center.  He is currently in critical condition.

Investigators arrested Carlos J. Underwood and Rebecca Ann Cairnes.  Underwood was charged with malicious wounding, carjacking, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and giving false information to law enforcement.  Cairnes was charged with one count of being an accessory.

Underwood is being held at Meherrin River Regional Jail without bond.  He and Cairnes will have their arraignment at Dinwiddie County General District Court on Monday.
