RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – News from the Department of Corrections in a follow-up to a story CBS 6 first uncovered on Wednesday — a registered sex offender living near a school has been relocated.

Parents were notified via letter from the principal at St. Benedict’s School on Grove Avenue that a registered sex offender was living next to the school.

Fifty-year-old Michael Davis pled guilty earlier in October to aggravated sexual battery of a 3-year-old child. By law Davis is required to register as a sex offender and is not allowed within 100 feet of a school.

Davis, until today, lived across the street from the school in an apartment inside a two-story home, just 52 feet away. You can read the story in full here.

Today, officials said that as of Oct. 25, Mr. Davis has been relocated.

his belongings while accompanied by probation and parole staff,” Lisa Kenney said, in an email to CBS 6.

Kinney explained that Mr. Davis was convicted in the Richmond City Circuit Court and placed on supervised probation on Oct. 9. “On October 22 the probation and parole district became aware that Mr. Davis’s residence, which had been his residence prior to the conviction, was in an inappropriate location near a school,” Kinney said.

“A decision was made to immediately initiate action to change Mr. Davis’s location and as of today, October 25, he has been re-located,” she said.
