Henrico County considers restaurant tax

Posted

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – It could soon cost you more to go out to eat in Henrico.

The county wants to ask the General Assembly to impose a new meals tax.

The 4 percent tax has to be approved by the Board of Supervisors and state lawmakers before it can take effect, but that won’t happen before next year.

Henrico County Manager Virgil Hazelett said Henrico needs the additional money because of dwindling revenue from real estate taxes.
