RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)--The guitar was cool long before Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Elvis Presley, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix.

Let's say, 5,000 years before those guys.

There have been enough guitar strings manufactured, practically, to wrap the world.

A new exhibit at the Science Musuem of Virginia – “Guitar: The Instrument that Rocked the World” – investigates this science and history of guitars.

There are 60 guitars and more than 100 artifacts in this exhibit that continues through January 6, 2013.
