WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WTVR) - President Obama paid a visit to Williamsburg on Saturday not to campaign, but to prepare for his next debate in New York.  Ninety supporters still showed up at the airport just to get a glimpse of him.

"This is my first time," Eunice Nash said.  "I'm excited," added the Obama supporter.  "I just can't wait to see him get off that plane."

Supporter James Reynolds thought it was a good idea for President Obama to come to Williamsburg to prepare for his debate.

"Why do you feel, of all of the cities in the United States, he decided to come here to prepare for his debate?" Reynolds asked.  "He prevailed the last election," he stated.  "A lot of people like him here."

Despite the president's lackluster performance in his first debate, which he admitted to, the expectations for the next one are high.

According to some polls, Governor Mitt Romney has a slight lead over the president in Virginia.

"What's it going to take for the president to take the lead?" asked Gwen Johnson.  "My personal opinion is to keep doing what he's doing," she added.  "He's doing a great job."

Will the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that killed four Americans hurt Obama's chances for re-election?  The state department knew it was a terrorist attack from the start, while the president initially blamed it on an anti-Muslim video.

"I would hope it wouldn't," said Bob Berg.  "You know the government is a big place," added the Obama supporter.  "The state department had the information.  I don't know why it didn't get through quicker."

Regardless, seeing President Obama in person was more than what supporters ever hoped for.  Some even got to shake his hand.

"He looked me right in the eye," said Fred Harold.  "And what did he say?  He said, 'How are you doing, sir?'  And I said, 'Fantastic.'"
