SANFORD, Florida (WTVR) - Attorneys for neighborhood watch leader George Zimmerman will ask a Florida judge to delay his trial -- and give them access to Trayvon Martin's social media and school records.
That's the latest from a motion made public in the case of the man who admitted to shooting and killing the unarmed Florida teenager.
Meantime, Zimmerman's mother spoke for the first time last night about the ordeal involving her son. She told CNN’s Piers Morgan that she believes her son is innocent.
“The media had played a big role against my son," Gladys Zimmerman said. "They had portrayed him in a bad -- bad picture. But there is justice in America.”
George Zimmerman is charged with second degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin.
Police said Zimmerman profiled and chased the African-American teen in February, but Zimmerman said he shot in self-defense after Martin attacked him.
