(CNN) – A high school student who was shot in the back at school, got to throw out the first pitch at Sunday night’s Baltimore Orioles game. His guidance counselor also tossed a ball at the same time.

A fellow student has been charged with shooting Daniel Borowy, who has Down Syndrome, on the first day of school in August. It happened during lunch in the cafeteria.

The counselor, Jesse Wasmer, is credited with tackling the gunman and keeping anyone else from being shot. After their pitches Borowy and Wasmer posed on the mound with the Orioles’ mascot and some players.
