RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - A Richmond restaurant manager was robbed of deposit money Monday morning outside the McDonald's near Broad Street and Boulevard, according to Richmond Police spokesman James Mercante. The robber was carrying a gun.
People who saw the robbery chased the suspect, but were unable to catch him.
"I was standing outside, working on a customer's car. Heard the gentlemen yelling from the McDonalds, telling the kid to stop," said John Carlton who works across the street at Chapman's Auto Service. "I turned around and the kid was about two feet away from me. I took off after him. Ran down Grace Street. Kid turned around, pulled a gun, pointed it at me. He took off, turned left up the Boulevard and that's when I lost him."
Police later recovered the money and the gun, Mercante said. Detectives hoped surveillance video taken at the scene would help them identify the robber.
