RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -Some Virginia Republicans say that the caricatures of President Barack Obama posted on the Mecklenberg County Facebook page “offensive” and “tasteless”.

The photos have been posted for months, but attention was drawn to them the day after Republican Senate Candidate George Allen held a small business round table discussion in Mecklenberg County.

His campaign was contacted by a news organization asking for a comment on the photos.

Spokeswoman Emily Davis of the George Allen for U.S. Senate campaign said this, “George Allen strongly condemns such imagery regardless of its source.  This has no place in our politics.”

The Republican Party of Virginia ordered the Mecklenberg County chapter to remove controversial caricatures.

The altered photos portrayed the president as a witch doctor, a caveman, and a thug.
