SAN DIEGO (KSWB) - Playing a game cost a 15-year-old California teen his life, according to police. Now officers are warning parents and students so it won't happen again.
Police in Chula Vista, California said on Tuesday night 15-year-old David Nuno was watching a YouTube video that showed how to make yourself pass out.
"When he passed out he fell forward and landed on a glass tumbler, when he landed the tumbler shattered and the glass cut his neck," said Chula Vista Police Capt. Gary Wedge.
The teenager regained consciousness and was taken to the hospital where he later died.
"I received the phone call, I was really hurt, you know, on the inside. I just couldn't believe it happened," Jamar Adams, the victim's friend.
Police want parents and student to understand the danger associated with playing along with these YouTube videos.
"It's not realistic for parents to be with their kids 24/7. It is critical that they share with them, incidents such as this and discuss with their kids really the risks involved in engaging in some of these behaviors that are readily available on the internet," Capt. Wedge said.
