Chilly Monday morning in central Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Monday morning lows to dip to their coolest levels since mid-May! The combination of mostly clear skies overnight, light to calm winds, and drier air in the wake of Saturday night’s cold front reinforced by surface high pressure south of the Great Lakes allowed these lows to occur. The morning low temperature at Richmond International Airport (preliminary) is 49 degrees. You have to go back to May 11 and 12 earlier this year to see morning low temperatures this cool.

Our morning low temperature May 12 was 47 degrees, and our May 11 low was 48 degrees. Those were the only two days in May where morning temperatures fell into the 40s, and that’s the last time we’ve been in the 40s in Richmond.
