Richmond native’s show “Breaking Bad” up for several Emmys

UPDATED. Aaron Paul won an Emmy for supporting actor, drama series. 

The popular television drama “Breaking Bad” is up for several Emmy awards tonight.

Vince Gilligan, the creator of the show, is a Richmond native who still visits home three or four times a year. His motheris retired and lives in Chesterfield. 

The star of the show, Bryan Cranston has a shot at his fourth best drama actor victory. He’s up against stars like Jon Hamm from “Mad Men,” also an AMC show and Michael Hall of “Dexter.” 

The show “Breaking Bad” is also up for an outstanding drama nomination. The competition in this category includes: “Boardwalk Empire,” “Downton Abbey,” “Game of Thrones,” “Homeland” and “Mad Men.”
