A suspected meteorite shower over the U.K. prompted a flurry of emergency calls.

Hundreds of people from Scotland to Wales to Northern Ireland dialed the emergency number 999  to report the lights streaming across the night sky on Friday night.

Experts said the meteors could be space junk, possibly satellite debris, burning up on entry to the atmosphere.
