HENRICO, Va. (WTVR)–Residents of The Village Apartments at Horsepen Road  received a letter from the property owner warning of  “terroristic threats,” in the United States and  urging residents to take general safety precautions.

The viewer-submitted letter, marked “urgent alert,” says the property owners were notified by the Unites States Department of Homeland Security that at least 14 bomb threats were made on Friday by persons stating they are members of Al Qaeda.

You may recall there was a bomb scare on Friday at the Port of Richmond, but it’s unclear if that that scare was related to others across the country.

The property management company printed the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security advisory which reads “Other bomb threats have been called into major US businesses in California and Pennsylvania,” and that “at this time no bombs have been found at any location.”

The department goes on to say that;

“However, in the overnight hours, numerous U.S. businesses were set on fire and destroyed by persons affiliated with Muslim Extremists as well as area resident in several countries.

Please advise all security personnel to be alert and to follow procedure when receiving a bomb threat.”

The Village management company urged resident to protect themselves from being a “victim of crime,” and listed safety guidelines.

Gumenick, the property management company, also stated that they “cannot guarantee your safety,” and that “Keeping ourselves safe from crime requires the individual efforts of everyone.”

CBS 6 left a message with the property owner and is still waiting for a response.
