ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina couple is coming under criticism after they posted a video online of their 2-year-old toddler “driving” a car.

WCTI12 reported that Marcos Madrid let his son Giovanni Madrid sit on his lap and steer the wheel. The family was reportedly driving on Fowler Manning Road near their home in Richlands when the toddler asked if he could drive.

“I feel bad for doing it and I wasn’t thinking, we weren’t thinking,” said Angelina Madrid, the child’s mother, according to WCTI12.

Legal officials said the video violates several laws including careless and reckless driving and a child-restraint violation. Marcos Madrid is a Camp Lejeune Marine and said he now worries about his future.
