RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Tropical Storm Nadine intensified from Tropical Depression 14 overnight in the central Atlantic.  Nadine initially originated from a tropical wave that moved off the northwest coast of Africa. That disturbance, when feeding off the rich, warm Atlantic Ocean waters, was able to organize through this week. It also has favorable wind conditions, limiting wind shear and allowing the circulation to become better-defined.

Check out the information as the system earned its name, which I pulled from our very own Hurricane Tracker toolon our website, which you can use HERE.

Nadine will likely intensify further to a Category One hurricane before the end of the work-week, then take a hard turn northeast. This will keep Nadine in the Central Atlantic, even well east of Bermuda, and certainly with no impact on the U.S.

September 10 was the climatological peak of Atlantic Basin cyclone activity. CLICK HERE to learn more and get a recap of the season so far.
