RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Race weekend at the Richmond International Raceway (RIR) kicked off Friday with nice weather, but for Saturday's Sprint Cup Race there is a threat of dangerous storms.

One month ago a spectator was killed and nine others were injured at a NASCAR event in Pennsylvania when lightning struck two places on the Pocono Raceway's grounds.
