Pair arrested for armed robbery at convenience store

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Richmond police have arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery at a Richmond convenience store where the suspects took off on a scooter.

Richmond police said 29-year-old Jonathan Kaspar, of the 3200 block of North Avenue, turned himself in to the Dinwiddie Sheriff’s Department on Aug. 27. He was charged with robbery and use of a firearm.

Additionally, 39-year-old Christopher L. Santiago, of the 11300 block of Jefferson Davis Highway, was arrested Tuesday on Midlothian Turnpike. Santiago was charged with robbery.

Both men are charged in connection with the Aug. 19 robbery of the Patterson Express at 3100 Patterson Ave.

Authorities said the men walked into the Patterson Express in the 3100 block of Patterson Avenue last Sunday around 3 p.m.  One of the suspect’s pulled out a gun, the pair robbed the store and then took off on a scooter.

Officials said more charges are pending as detectives investigate to see if the pair are connected to two other robberies.

The Sheppard Market, in the 700 block of N. Sheppard Street was robbed on Aug. 14. Also, the Cary Street Mini-Mart, in the 1300 block of W. Cary Street was robbed on Aug. 19.
