Soon, Starbucks coffee may refresh you in more ways than one.

Scientists in Hong Kong are testing out a process called “biorefinery.”

It recycles old coffee grinds and old, stale baked goods into things such as detergent and plastic.

The idea was presented at the recent 244th National Meeting and Exposition of the American Chemical Society.

Scientists from Hong Kong’s City University are working with Starbucks Hong Kong on the project.
