RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – A Fog Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. EDT for parts of the western Piedmont and into northern Virginia as a result of recent rainfall, clearing skies aloft, and light winds overnight. Visibilities are dropping below a mile in much of this advised area, with some locations experiencing dense fog reducing visibility below a quarter of a mile. If you live or commute through this part of the state this morning, allow extra time for a slower, more cautious drive! Keep your headlights on the low-beam setting, even after sunrise.  If you encounter especially dense fog, turn on your hazard lights and slow down so that other vehicles will have a better opportunity to see you and slow down with you, allowing extra travel space.

Even locations not included in this Advisory are still experiencing patchy fog in central and eastern Virginia, which also benefited from weekend rainfall. Visibilities there are as low as three-quarters of a mile.
