HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – The Henrico County Fire Department responded to a house fire at 6 p.m on Sunday.
It happened at the 4700 block of Colwyck Drive.
Captain Jim Mellon says the fire started due to unattended cooking oil. The fire then spread to the kitchen and left moderate smoke damage throughout the house.
Officials marked the fire under control at 6:15.
A woman was home at the time, but she evacuated by the time units were on scene. The woman’s dog escaped through an open door. She has made arrangements to stay with family.
No injuries were reported.
