RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – An old scam with a new twist is resurfacing in Richmond.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) says a con artist used its name and logo on a letter informing a local woman she had won $5.5 million in a lottery. The woman called the telephone number on the letter, and was told she could collect her prize by purchasing a MoneyPakworth nearly $500, then call back with the code on the card.

The Better Business Bureau says it does not give out lottery notifications. They say if anyone asks you for your MoneyPak number or information from your receipt, then it's probably a scam.

To report a scam, call the Better Business Bureau locally at 804-648-0030.
