A tearful reunion for a Virginia woman who says her service dog had been missing for eight months.

CBS 6 News first told you about Karren Cooper back in January. Her two year-old German Shepherd “Tia” disappeared on New Year’s Eve outside her Prince Edward County home.

Through Facebook, Cooper says she discovered her dog had been in a California shelter and was just four hours from being euthanized. Tuesday night Cooper and “Tia” were reunited in Ohio.

Cooper says she suffers from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder after serving in Operation Desert Storm. She says she believes her dog was stolen.

Cooper says while she’s happy to have her dog back, she says she still wants to find out who took “Tia” in the first place.
