RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Ashland-native George Dennehy performed with the Goo Goo Dolls Tuesday night at Musikfest in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Dennehy, who graduated from Patrick Henry High School, was born without arms.

He became a YouTube sensation earlier this summer when he posted video of himself performing the Goo Goo Dolls song “Iris” at the Ashland Strawberry Faire.

After seeing the video, the  Goo Goo Dolls invited Dennehy to open for them at the concert. Dennehy said the band reached out to him via Twitter. [Click here to follow George Dennehy on Twitter.]

Dennehy told WFMZ.com his mother taught him to play the cello and guitar.

"My mom saw Tony Melendez one time in a video or live. He's another armless guitar player and she went up to the teacher and said, 'If Tony Melendez can play guitar, George play another instrument too,'" Dennehy told the Pennsylvania television station. [Click here to read the full report]
