DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Investigators said a 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a deadly weekend shooting in Dinwiddie County.
The Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office said Jaeon Rondell Chavis, of the 1700 block of Ferndale Avenue in Petersburg, was charged with 22 felonies after 24-year-old Jamel Snowden was shot dead and three others were wounded on Brunswick Avenue on Aug. 5.
Chavis was also charged with first degree murder, three counts of malicious wounding, two counts of attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and multiple weapons violations charges.
Officials said Chavis was arrested without incident Tuesday afternoon in Petersburg by members of the United States Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force.
Chavis is being held without bond pending arraignment Thursday in Dinwiddie County General District Court.
