RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Is Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell on the list of possible vice presidential candidates as part of Mitt Romney’s campaign?

So far, the Republican presidential candidate has dodged questions about his V-P choice, but that hasn’t kept political experts from speculating. And most lists do not include McDonnell – despite McDonnell’s stumping all over the country in support of Romney.

The list of scheduled speakers at the upcoming Republican National Convention, also omits McDonnell. CBS 6 political expert Dr. Bob Holsworth says that makes sense, especially if McDonnell gets the VP offer, that he would not be a scheduled speaker. But Holsworth expects McDonnell to be offered a top job in the Romney administration even if he’s not offered the vice-presidential spot.

“It’s speculation right now. But we can expect McDonnell to be offered a very high profile position in a Romney administration, but at the moment, is not on the shortest of short lists for that presidential ticket,” said Holsworth.

Holsworth also points to the ultrasound bill and the resulting protests here in Richmond as a potential negative for McDonnell, but says Virginia’s balanced budget and low unemployment work in his favor.
