Almost 1 million Kenmore dehumidifiers from Sears recalled

Posted

Sears has recalled 795,000 Kenmore dehumidifiers due to fire and burn hazards.

The recall includes 35, 50, and 70 pint dehumidifiers with the Kenmore logo on the front top of the unit.

Affected products were manufactured between 2003 and 2005.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says if you own one of these, you should stop using it immediately.

The agency says it has received reports that the dehumidifiers have caused more than $7 million dollars in property damage.

It says the units were exclusively sold at Sears and Kmart stores.

The commission says people who own these dehumidifiers should contact Sears.

It says the company will give affected consumers gift cards, depending on the year and capacity of the dehumidifier.
