Domestic abuse trial to begin Monday for Petersburg City Manager

PETERSBURG, Va. (WTVR)- Trial is expected to begin Monday for Petersburg City Manager William Johnson.

Johnson is facing misdemeanor assault and battery charges stemming from an alleged fight with his wife last February.

The Petersburg City Council voted to allow Johnson to stay on the job, pending the outcome of the case.

Johnson has served as Petersburg City Manager since June of 2011. If convicted Williams faces 12 months behind bars and a $2,500 fine.
