HENRICO, Va. (WTVR)--Henrico police said a Glen Allen man is in trouble with the law after allegedly videotaping unsuspecting women at a local grocery store.

Lt. Linda Toney told CBS 6 that police were called to the 1600 block of Willow Lawn Drive for a suspicious situation in late June.  A warrant was served on Mark W. Dreyer on July 17.

“We received reports that a man took pictures of women’s private parts inside of the store,” Toney said.  “An officer met with him on the scene and he was charged.”

“ That man is Mark Dreyer and he was charged with non-consent filming or videotaping of a person,” Toney explained.

CBS 6 went to Dreyer’s home in Glen Allen to speak with him. He wasn’t there and we left a message.  We also contacted Kroger’s corporate offices to see if they had a statement. The company has not yet returned our calls.

In Dreyer’s neighborhood, the news is met with shock and disbelief. Some neighbors in his cul de sac said that Dreyer is a family man with two children and has lived there for at least 12 years.

They declined to go on camera, but neighbors told CBS 6 they have a tough time believing what police said happened at the Willow Lawn grocery store.

“This is a new Kroger and they have new workers here,” said a shopper Iwana Goodwin. “I’m just shocked that this happened.”

Joelle McWhinney, another shoppers, said it’s just making her even more aware, ”especially as our society continues to revel in this age of social media.“

“Definitely people are taking inappropriate pictures and posting them. You don’t know where those pictures are going to end up,” said McWhinney.

Police are not giving specific details about the alleged crimes or how many women may have been photographed.

They said it’ll all unfold in court. Police do add they would like to hear from female shoppers who were in the Willow Lawn Kroger on Thursday, June 28th.

“If you think you are a victim and remember seeing him or think you were followed by him, detectives want to hear from you” said Lt. Toney.

Detectives can be reached at 501-5000.  The crime Dreyer is charged with is a class 1 misdemeanor.  That could carry up to a year in jail and a fine up to $2500, if convicted.

Dreyer is scheduled to appear in Henrico General District Court on August 16. CBS 6 will continue to follow this story and bring you the latest developments.
