RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – With the temperature going beyond 100 degrees, many Richmonders either stayed inside or hit the neighborhood pools on Saturday.

We captured some footage from Bryan Park.  You would normally see people walking around, jogging, or running, but not this Saturday.

Instead, many hit the neighborhood pools.  The pool in Battery Park was packed with people cooling off and spending some time in the water.

While some of you hit the pool, the Richmond Ambulance Authority dispatchers stayed busy taking calls from those who were sick from the heat.

Lieutenant Mike Spiedel advises people to take heat warnings seriously. “Your body is really good about telling you when it’s too hot.  That’s why you sweat.  You need to find shade.  You need to hydrate yourself.”

Spiedel says that the elderly and asthma sufferers should stay indoors.  For those of you who plan on going outside, he recommends drinking plenty of water or a sports drink with electrolytes.
