11:20 pm update:  Storms approaching western VA are weakening.  Threat for severe storms overnight is low.  Best chance of storms will be well west of I-95.  A few scattered storms are possible elsewhere.

Previous post:

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for western Virginia through 2 a.m.  A cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms continues to track through West Virginia, and will move into the western part of Virginia around 11 p.m.

Storms are not in the form of a solid line, but rather a few different groups of storms.  Some of the strongest activity may miss us to the north.  Storms will weaken slightly in the coming hours.  There is a risk of strong wind gusts in excess of 60 mph as well as large hail.

If the storms hold together, they could be near I-95 after midnight.
