What is left of what was Hurricane Chris is moving into the colder waters of the North Atlantic, and will pose no threat to the USA mainland.

A new area of disturbed weather has been developing in the southern Gulf of Mexico & northern Caribbean.  It shows the potential to become a tropical depression and then a named storm over the next few days.  The name that will be assigned to this system will be Debby.

Computer models are suggesting that this system will stay in the Gulf of Mexico a few days, and may eventually make a landfall by the middle or end of next week.  Thanks to the overall jet stream and an area of high pressure across the southern Plains, this system will have a very tough time moving much farther north than the Gulf coast.
