UPDATE: Escaped inmate captured

POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – UPDATE: An inmate who broke out of a correctional center earlier this month in Chesapeake, and who was been spotted in Central Virginia has been captured, said the Chesapeake County Sheriff’s Office.

A detailed news release will be issued within the next couple of hours, said officials.

The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office said 40-year-old Clancy Dan Starling Jr. was spotted after midnight, early Wednesday morning along Trenholm Road in Powhatan County near Cumberland County.

Officials said Starling escaped from the Chesapeake Correctional Center on June 11.

Starling is described as a white male, around 5-feet 8-inches tall and around 150 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. Starling was last seen wearing white tank top under a white t-shirt, blue shorts and white tennis shoes. He has a right shoulder tribal tattoo, sun tattoo on his neck and ½ sleeve tattoo on his left arm.

Starling was sentenced on Probation Violation that includes 2 counts of burglary and 2 counts of larceny with 15 years left to serve. He is also sentenced 2 years Grand Larceny on Virginia Beach charges.

Several law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshal’s Office, are searching for Starling.
