(WTVR) – Sleep deprivation can lead to higher anxiety levels according to a new study.
Researchers from Sleep and Neuroimaging Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley asked a group of healthy adults to anticipate an emotional event.
From there, the researchers took brain scans. The first set were conducted after a good night’s rest and then another set after a night of sleep deprivation.
They found that after being deprived of sleep, the participants’ anxiety about the upcoming event jumped by as much as 60 percent.
