CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR)--Nearly 40 years have past, and it's still a Virginia horse that holds the best, record-breaking run at the Triple Crown. The last win was in 1978, by Affirmed.

The Triple Crown challenges young horses to triumph at the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes. The latter being the longest of the three races at one and a half miles.

As I’ll Have Another preps for the Belmont Stakes run in New York, CBS 6 spoke with some of the men who worked with Secretariat after he was born in Caroline County’s Meadow Farm, 42 years ago.

Grooms Charlie Ross and Alvin Hines were thrilled to watch the horse they cared for win the Triple Crown in record-smashing times – records that stand today.

Both would love to see I’ll Have Another be the first horse in 34 years to win the crown.

But neither believe there’s any risk that Secretariat’s records will be touched.

If I'lll Have Another grabs this race, he will be the 12th Triple Crown winner.
