(WTVR) - Statistically, Americans are more likely to die in a car crash than be shot and killed.

But that's not the case in Virginia.

According to a new report from a gun control group called the Violence Policy center, the Commonwealth is one of just 10 states where there are more deadly shootings than fatal car accidents.

The report says that motor vehicle deaths are on the decline, partially because of safety related changes to automobiles and highway designs.

The group says guns are the only consumer product not regulated by the Feds for health and safety.
