Could a flesh-eating bacteria be in Virginia waters?

Posted

(WTVR) - We're hearing a lot about the flesh-eating bacteria that sent two women in Georgia to the hospital.

Turns out the same bacteria might be in water or soil in Virginia.

Medical experts say the bacteria, which is a rare form of strep, is likely found here, with it being more prevalent in the Virginia Beach area.

The reason, there is more water around.

And once it gets warmer, when more people are in the water, your chances of contracting the bacteria increases.
