Twitter is stepping up efforts to guard your privacy.

Users of the technology will soon be able to stop the social media giant from collecting information about you.

Twitter is adopting the “Do not Track” feature of Mozilla’s Firefox browser.

A Federal Trade Commission official made the announcement this week.

The feature prevents web sites from using cookies to track your personal information and online movements.

To opt into the service on Twitter, you must select the “Do Not Track” feature within the Firefox browser.

Other top web browsers, including Apple’s Safari and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, have similar features.
