HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Fire investigators are still working to figure out what started a house fire off Laburnum Ave. in eastern Henrico late Tuesday night. Henrico Fire Capt. James Mellon said the 911 center was “flooded with calls” as drivers saw the smoke and flames from Interstate 64 around 11:30 p.m.

When fire crews arrived at the home, along the 4200 block of Millers Lane, they found the two-story house fully engulfed in flames. A second alarm was requested to help get water to the fire. It took firefighters from five stations an hour to bring the fire under control, Capt. Mellon said.

Fire investigators said they believed the home was abandoned, but crews still can’t go into the home to investigate due to unstable walls.
