(WTVR) - The state is starting a program that will put more veterans to work.

The Department of Motor Vehicles and transportation businesses are teaming up with the military to get the former service members to work in the transportation industry in a program called Troops to Trucks.

The program is making it easier for military to get a commercial driver's license under a new federal regulation that waives the road skills test requirement for military CDL holders after meeting safe driving requirements.

The DMV is also working with military on some bases.
