Nine local high schools score on ‘best of’ list

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) –U.S. News and World report has just released its annual list of the best high schools in the nation, with good showing from local schools.

In fact, nine in our area made the grade.

They are: Deep Run, Richmond Community, Open High, Midlothian, Cosby, Mills Godwin, Douglas Freeman, Atlee, and Hanover.

The final tally by county? That’s three from Henrico, two from Chesterfield, two from Richmond, and two from Hanover.

The list was based on factors including reading and math scores on state proficiency exams and college prep courses.
