Arrest made in high speed interstate motorcycle pursuit

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WTVR) –A motorcyclist flees from police, at speeds in excess of 100 mph, and a state trooper is injured in the pursuit down Interstate 95, northbound.

At 7:40 p.m, Virginia State Police Trooper C. A. Putnam attempted to stop the driver of a 2006 Suzuki GSX 1300 R motorcycle for a traffic violation on I-95 north, just south of Route 10, Willis Road in Chesterfield.

Sgt. Thomas Molnar said that Putnam, in pursuit of the motorcycle, swerved to avoid a motorist who pulled into the travel lane. The motorist was attempting to get out of the way of pursuit vehicles and the motorcycle.

Putnam avoided hitting the motorist but hit the jersey wall. The trooper suffered minor injuries and was later taken to Saint Francis Hospital to be evaluated.

The motorcyclist, Bryon C. Bukle,29,of Richmond was taken to jail in Chesterfield.

Police said that the motorcycle pursuit lasted about five minutes.

The investigation is continuing and Bukle is facing additional charges.
