It looks like we’ll have a decent set up Wednesday afternoon for strong to severe storms to develop across a large part of the state. An upper-level disturbance rotating around the northern edge of a weak ridge to our west should be enough to trigger storms in the region by afternoon, as the combination of heat and moisture leads to an unstable environment. The strongest storms will be capable of winds to 70 mph and half-dollar sized hail. The graphic above indicates where the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) feels the best juxtaposition of instability and lift will lie tomorrow afternoon.
