COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WTVR) - Police said the arrest of a robbery suspect may help investigators close more than one case across Central Virginia.

Police arrested  46-year-old Darrell Lamont Harris, of Richmond, and charged him in connection with the Saturday night robbery of The Dress Barn on Southpark Boulevard.

Colonial Heights Police charged Harris with:

  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
  • Wearing a mask in public
  • Robbery
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Larceny
  • 9 counts of abduction

The abduction counts came after Harris locked employees and customers in a room during the robbery, said Colonial Heights Sgt. Rob Ruxer.

Ruxer told CBS 6 senior reporter Wayne Covil investigators are looking into whether Harris can be connected to other, similar crimes in Central Virginia.

Harris was arrested Sunday in Richmond. He is being held in Richmond City Jail without bond.
