100 people injured, one killed in downtown St. Louis tent collapse

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Emergency crews are responding to a report of a tent collapse in Downtown St. Louis near Busch Stadium.

Police confirm at least one person was killed and at least 100 people are injured. The Associated Press reports the person who died had a heart attack during the commotion during or after the cell hit the downtown area.

Severe weather and high winds blew through the area, causing the tent to collapse. We will bring you more information as details become available.

Also, the entire St. Louis Metropolitan area is under a severe weather alert – as of 5:20 p.m., Monroe County has been placed under a tornado watch in addition to a severe thunderstorm alert lasting most of the evening. Currently a strong thunderstorm system is over Jefferson County, Mo., but is headed toward Monroe County.
