CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WTVR) – The family of a University of Virginia student murdered by her ex-boyfriend, has now filed a $30 million lawsuit against the killer.
Online court records show that Yeardley love’s mother Sharon and her attorney filed the wrongful death suit against George Huguely in Charlottesville City Circuit Court yesterday.
The Daily Progress is reporting love is seeking nearly $29.5 million in compensatory damages, and $1 million in punitive damages.
Huguely was convicted of second degree murder back in February.
He faces 26 years in prison when he’s sentenced in august.
Sharon love spoke publicly about her daughter death for the first time last week, when she spoke at an event urging congress to pass the Violence Against Women Act.
